Obesity has become a global concern associated with severe health concerns such as heart disease and diabetes. According to the FDA, approximately 70% of American adults are obese or overweight. Health care providers and scientists have been continuously looking for effective, safe ways to help the rising numbers of obesity. Most of the available anti-obesity drugs cause serious side effects limiting their use. However, Semaglitude, a new weight loss drug, has become the game changer in treating obesity and moderate weight loss.
Semaglitude for Weight Loss
Semaglitude is an FDA-approved powerful treatment for chronic weight management issues. Semaglitude is a synthetic form of naturally occurring hormone for metabolism and insulin management. Since 2005, Semaglitude (also known as Wegovy) has been prescribed as an injectable to primarily treat type 2 diabetes by regulating insulin levels in the body. From 2021, the well-researched drug is being used as a safe, effective treatment that consistently enables patients to lose significant weight.
I feel the need to let the world know that by the grace of God, Semaglutide has improved my health, lifestyle, and well-being.
I am 69 years young, mother of six with a 15-year-old grandson my husband and I adopted as our own. Raising a 15-year-old at any age requires stamina, energy, and quick wit.
In February 2022 I was 5’ 3” tall, weighed 215 lbs, was short of breath, experiencing chest pains, had borderline osteoporosis, a curve appearing in my spine, and no clue on how I could get back to my 140-pound stature. I was an active member of “Boot Camps”, work out programs, fad diets and magic pills to lose weight. I did this for years but when you reach a certain age, aches, pains, and energy levels were more resounding than results.
Being overweight and aging is not a pretty site, especially when you are married to a younger man by 5 years. The need to feel appealing is of the utmost importance.
So, I discovered Signature Skin Care Doctors Gina and Larry Ressler as my saviors. They are professional, innovative, and full of energy. During my monthly facial my aesthetician asked if I had ever tried Semaglutide, and told me that I needed to speak with Dr. Gina. I was so interested that I brought my husband to the consult to pique his interest. We both decided to give it a go and the results were outstanding. The first week my husband lost fifteen pounds and I lost nine without dieting, fasting or exercising. In just seven months I went from 215lbs to 148lbs. (67lbs lost), and my Husband went from 274lbs to 241lbs (33lbs lost). Weight loss without setting foot in a gym. My hemoglobin A1c went down by 0.2. My husband is no longer on high blood pressure medication and his cholesterol dropped by 20 points.
Thank you, Dr. Gina and Dr. Larry”
How It Works
The body naturally produces glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), which regulates appetite centers in the gut and brain, making you feel full. Semaglitude imitates GLP-1, providing similar effects like reducing the feelings of hunger and enabling you to eat less food. Semaglitude is even more effective when combined with exercise, stress-reducing mechanisms such as meditation, breathing exercises, yoga, and a healthy meal plan.
Semaglitude is not a stimulant and does not rely on mechanisms that can harm your overall health, unlike other weight loss medications. Before its approval, the FDA conducted clinical trials which lasted 68 weeks, whereby patients lost an average of 15% of their body weight and 35lb over the trial period. Semaglitude is suitable for adults with:
- Obesity-A body mass index (BMI) of 30kg/m2 or greater
- Overweight- a BMI of 27kg/m2 with weight-related conditions such as type 2 diabetes mellitus or high blood pressure.

Side Effects of Semaglitude
Every medicine has some potential side effects. Most patients have reported some side effects when they start using the medication, which wears off once the body adjusts to Semaglitude. Some side effects are nausea, stomach cramps, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, and constipation. Report any adverse side effects for your doctor to adjust your dosage.
Semaglitude is first administered with the lowest dosage available; a weekly injection or a daily tablet. The dosage is gradually increased after four weeks until the full dosage is administered (five months), depending on whether or not you have had any side effects. This is called titrating (dose escalation) and is done to reduce the risk of any potential side effects you may experience during treatment. It also helps with gradual weight loss rather than rapidly losing weight. Over time, your body will have new limits to getting full, and avoiding overeating is essential to help maintain the new attained weight.
